As we get closer to the end of 2009, I already have an eye towards the first quarter of 2010 and the video games that scheduled to be released during that period.
It’s going to be quite a 3 months as some of the biggest games in the industry will be coming out. The 6 that I will get no matter what are:
Bioshock 2 (Release date – 2/9/2010): The first Bioshock was my favorite game of 2008. And this time, you get to play as the original Big Daddy.
God of War 3 (Release date – TBA 1Q10): No release date has been set yet, so there is always the possibility that it can get moved back, the way Bioschock 2 was moved back from Nov. 2009 to Feb. 2010. The original game was revolutionary in so many ways, and the series finally makes it Next Gen debut so you just know the bar is being set very high.
Final Fantasy XIII (Release date – 3/9/2010): It was announced today that the latest installment from the gold standard of RPG franchise will be released Stateside in March, only 3 months after it comes out in Japan. The graphics shown in the teaser trailers have been amazing, and gameplay should be up there again as usual.
Mass Effect 2 (Release date – 1/29/2010): Mass Effect 1 was the best space RPG game ever, IMHO. There were some gameplay issues, but I believe they have been addressed for the sequel. The story will be stellar again, I am sure.
Heavy Rain (Release date – TBA 1Q 2010): This could be something else. It’s not a traditional video game by any means, and could be quite revolutionary in so many ways.
Darksiders (Release date – 1/5/2010): This game at first blush is a little bit of Legend of Zelda, Devil May Cry and God of War. Good enough for me.
I am absolutely pumped for Mass Effect 2. I’m taking a day off for it.
For some reason, Bayonetta completely slipped my mind.
